A Lewiston doctor was warned and fined Tuesday, accused of lying while renewing her state medical license earlier this year.
Ann E. Traynor, who joined the Central Maine Medical Center staff in May as a hematologist and oncologist, was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine at a hearing in front of the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine.
In a consent agreement signed Tuesday, Traynor denied she had committed fraud or deceit while renewing her Maine medical license. However, she also agreed that the board has sufficient evidence that she had failed to disclose an earlier suspension of hospital privileges.
According to a Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine statement, Traynor submitted a renewal application on Jan. 8 that indicated she had not had any privileges revoked, suspended or restricted in the past.
However, members of the board said they later received information that Traynor’s hospital privileges had been suspended in late 2007. Traynor was supposed to reveal that when submitting her renewal application, according to the statement.
The board did not specify why Traynor’s hospital privileges had been suspended in 2007 and no record of it could be found in the state database.
In May, Traynor began practicing with Hematology-Oncology Associates in Lewiston.
Before coming to the Lewiston-Auburn area, she practiced at Maine General Oncology Services in Waterville and Augusta. She has more than 18 years of experience in hematology, cancer care and research.
