This letter is in response to the front-page article, “McCain or Obama – Who would Be Better for Maine?” (Sept. 8)
Thank you for presenting both sides of this issue.
On the economy, John McCain has said that we are better off now than we were eight years ago, ignoring stagnant wages, foreclosures, unemployment and ever-rising health-care costs.
He doesn’t seem to grasp the seriousness of these issues for ordinary working people.
Regarding health care, your article left out one key point. The McCain plan would tax your health care benefits if your employer subsidizes your health care.
This amount would be added to your tax bill, so he would in fact be raising taxes.
