This is in regard to the recent, alleged hate crime in Portland.

Maine once had the highest per-capita membership in the KKK. In lieu of African-Americans, the bed-sheet brigade targeted Catholics. The KKK went up onto a Mexico ledge to burn a cross and be all negative about Irish and French people. Irish being Irish, they went and gave the KKK something to complain about.

Maybe you are not from some group of societal descendants the KKK chooses to bully at the moment, but you might be American. If you understand what that means, you’ll honor the lives and deaths of everyone dedicated to the tenet that “all men are created equal.”

Bush’s latest version of why we’re dying in Iraq is we’re bestowing the blessing of “democracy.” I think if Obama gets enough Democrats in Congress, he can secure democracy here at home.
