Well, here we go again.

Late Friday, Hurricane Ike moved ashore in the Gulf states and just like in the wake of Hurricane Katrina three years ago, gas prices by early Saturday morning had risen more than 20 cents in the Twin Cities.

A big thank you should go out, once again, to Big Oil and their companions on Wall Street for this increase. If this is not outright theft from the American public, than I don’t know what is!

I am sure the braintrust in Washington will call for investigations of price fixing and gouging but with few results. Big Oil has bought enough senators and representatives to know they are immune from any kind of penalty.

I love my country but let’s face it: the government is broken when it allows stuff like this to go on. It needs to be re-worked or even overthrown with some revolution to start working for all the people again, and not just the special interest groups that now control Washington. I just hope I can live long enough to see it.

Even with damage to Gulf state refineries, I’m willing to bet Big Oil again posts record profits in the third and fourth quarters.
