WOODSTOCK – Sculptor Gil Whitman told Woodstock Historical Society members he plans a candlestick phone sculpture and remembrance park for the Woodstock town common.

The phone will be 15 feet tall and weigh 1 1/2 tons, Whitman said.

A stone wall to commemorate family members and businesses will surround the park.

A gazebo bandstand will balance the sculpture at the other end, and the historical society voted to supply an old railroad sign for the project.

During the society’s business meeting the following officers were elected: president, Elaine Roberts; vice president, Annella Burnham; secretary, Vicki Billings; treasurer, Paul Billings; and trustees, Mary Billings and Gil Whitman. Larry Billings is museum curator.
