LEWISTON – Erin Lachance, a student at Trinity Catholic School, decided to spend her summer fundraising for those in need.

Jennifer Lachance, her mother, and 7-year-old Erin drove by the Hope Haven Gospel Mission every day and saw people waiting in line for food. Erin wanted to help those people, so she put up a poster in her mom’s office at Proactive Physical Therapy asking patrons to donate their bottles to help the needy.

She set a goal of $85 by Aug. 22 and exceeded that goal by raising $110.60 instead. Erin made personalized thank-you cards for everyone who brought in bottles. Lachance said, “I think that this is amazing for a 7-year-old to be thinking of other people in this way. I wanted to share this story, not so that she will be recognized for her good deed, but because I am so proud and because this is an example of how the education they are receiving at Trinity Catholic School is contributing to our community.”
