Complaints about promiscuous shooting are heard frequently. The other day, Horace Hadley of Webster Street, Lewiston, says a bullet whizzed by his head and over several young children who were playing near him. Somebody’s carelessness came near to causing a fatality.

• On Wednesday a large number of the delegates to the semi-annual meeting of thestate board of trade in Augusta will make a visit to Lewiston. The party will come across country over the new trolley line.

50 years ago, 1958

An article by Joseph P. Savignano, juvenile officer of the Auburn police department, has been accepted for publication in the January issue of Law and Order, a publication for law enforcement officers. The article deals with steps taken in Auburn to combat juvenile delinquence through formation of the Auburn Teen-Age Council.

• Formal acceptance of the new terminal building and premises at the Lewiston-Auburn Municipal Airport will be held at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 10, it was announced yesterday afternoon by Lewiston City Controller Laurier T. Raymond, chairman of the airport operating committee. Invited guests will include representatives of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, Northeast Airlines Inc. and the Lewiston-Auburn municipal governments, he said. The airport project, consisting of the new terminal building and ground improvements, cost about $167,000.

25 years ago, 1983

Wallace School on Main Street in Lewiston will hold an open house for parents from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Principal Robert Provencher will speak on the school’s programs and discipline rules, then teachers will make presentations in their homerooms concerning what will be taught during the year.
