SEBAGO – The Schoolhouse Arts Center will present “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz.

The book, music and lyrics are by Clark Gesner, with additional dialogue by Michael Mayer and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa.

Performances will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 9-26 at the arts center on Route 114. Call 642-3743 for reservations.

“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is a look at an average day in the life of Charlie Brown. It’s a day made up of little moments – from Valentine’s Day to a baseball game, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed in with the lives of his friends, both human and nonhuman.

In this revised version of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” Sally Brown joins Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder and Snoopy. Two new songs, “Beethovan Day” and “My New Philosophy,” have been added to the 12 numbers of the original version, which include “My Blanket and Me,” “The Kite,” “The Baseball Game,” “Suppertime,” and “Happiness.”

A festival celebration for the first 20 children to make reservations for Saturday, Oct. 18, will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. prior to that 8 p.m. show. They will carve jack’o-lanterns and be served some fall treats.
