On behalf of Joan-Bryant Deschenes in the race for state representative (House District 96 – Turner, Minot, Hebron) please allow me to clarify any misstated facts to those who hear whispers to the contrary, regarding Joan’s attendance record during her service in the 121st and 122nd Legislatures.
Fact: 121st session
Following her election, Joan slept 26 nights on chairs in Maine Medical Center’s Intensive Care waiting room. Joan’s husband suffered five heart attacks, survived three stent placements and two open heart surgeries. Joan’s love and dedication for her husband and the care he received kept him alive.
Fact: 122nd session
The Speaker held the budget vote over for another member on a second honeymoon. Joan gave away a trip she won to stay and vote against that spending increase. Joan will be there when the votes count.
Her record shows she will vote against increased spending and taxes.
Kathryn M. Dyer, Turner
