Dear Sun Spots: In the hunting world a grand slam is the shooting of a deer, a bear and a moose in the same year. Can Sun Spots give us a list of who in Maine may have such a record? Also, I have noticed the same two men behind home plate for the last four seasons. What is the price of a season ticket at that location? Thanks. – Gary Dubreuil, Livermore.

Answer: Sun Spots spoke with representatives from the Maine Sportsman and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife who said they do not keep a list of hunters who have shot all three animals in one season.

A Red Sox spokesperson said that the seats you are referring to in Fenway Park are called “Homeplate Dugout Seats.” They are sold as premium season tickets for all home games. They are priced at $325 per seat. He notes that for one seat, the cost for the season would be $26,235! He also said they could not give out any information on their season ticket holders, so he was unable to verify the identities of the two men who occupy the seats in question.

Dear Sun Spots: The Auburn Music Program is in need of instruments, old or new. There are many students in Auburn who want to play an instrument as part of the band program that can not afford to rent one. It’s frustrating as a teacher to not have the equipment I need to help enrich students’ lives. – Sarah, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for a doctor in the Lewiston-Auburn area that is well versed and current with research on hypothyroidism. I am desperate to find a doctor that will listen to me! I am currently on Synthroid (75 mg), but I am still having many, many symptoms of hypothyroidism, e.g., depression, severe exhaustion, insomnia and brain fog just to name a few. My doctor feels that my TSH level is within the normal range (TSH of 2.98 back in March). The new levels suggested in January of 2003 by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists are a narrower margin of 0.3 to 3.0. Most labs here in the area are still using .5 to 5.0. I need a physician who understands that in order for me to properly function as a human being that my level really needs to be closer to 2.0, or under. Any assistance in finding a local physician “who gets it” would be greatly appreciated. -No Name, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: Last winter’s snow was especially rough on area buildings, and the Mission Congregational Church of West Paris was no exception. So many shingles came off the roof that a new roof must be installed. To help pay for that, the church at 15 Church St. is putting on a baked bean supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17. Included in the supper will be homemade baked beans, hot dogs, casseroles, biscuits, corn bread and zucchini bread, pies for dessert and beverages. The charge for adults is $6 and for children under 12 years $3. Advance tickets are available from church members, and will also be on sale at the door. The church has already held two successful yard sales, and looks forward to a good attendance at the supper. – Cynthia, No Town.
