LEWISTON – Lisbon St. Getty Mart Sr. Redskins finished the Lewiston FLY football regular season with a convincing 15-0 shutout of the Twins Variety Sr. Giants.
Joey Gonzalez, Jeffrey Clark and William Adams led the ‘Skins ball-control offense. Both Clark and Adams reached the end zone for the first time this season, while Gonzalez converted on both extra point attempts behind the blocks of Nelson Goyette, Jason Goulet and Chase Tapley.
On the defensive side, Lily Fundis made 10 tackles and Brendan Dugusy registered six stops, while Chad Hinkley and Gonzalez each intercepted a pass and caused constant pressure in the Giants’ backfield. Eddie Denis and Clark each recorded a quarterback sack. Adams recovered a fumble.
Mike Treadwell, Ryan Bell and Jacob Bachelder combined for more than 100 yards rushing to lead the Giants. Austin Morin, Elijah Cady and Bell sparked the defense. Bachelder tallied two sacks.
In other Senior action, DRL Flooring Steelers stayed unbeaten in a showdown with Grover State Farm Lions. Shane Baker rushed for 135 yards, scoring touchdowns from 75 and 40, to lead the Steelers. Curtis Kaplinger headlined the defense with five tackles and two sacks. Zeb French pitched in with three key tackles, including a safety. Daqjuan Adams scored on a 60-yard kick return for the Lions. Ace Curry threw a two-point conversion pass. Legend Edwards, Dion Jackson and Sheon James each had a hand in the offense. Jackson, Adams, Dakota Withee and Matt Hudson each collected a sack.
Grimmel’s Gas-Up Jr. Giants picked up their first win of the season, 12-6, over the Northeast Athletics Redskins. Alex Demers scored twice for the Giants behinmd Devin Lavoie’s blocking. Defensively, Gage Cote, Ethan Hoffay, Gabe Nichols and Bradley McLellan all made key tackles to preserve the Giants’ victory. Jason Gonzalez, Noah Francis, Abram Collette and Cody Daigneault played well in defeat for the ‘Skins.
B&R Flooring Jr. Steelers tightened their grip on first place with a 24-6 victory over Don Morin’s Photo Jr. Lions. Bryan Wagg, Jaznel Burns, Tyler Marquis and Garrett Poussard each scored a touchdown behind terrific blocking by the entire offensive line. Brandon Marquis and Ben Bolduc sparked the Steelers’ defense. Darius Phillips and Julian Raines gave a splendid effort for the Lions’ offense. Issac Cote scored the Lions’ lone TD. Desmond Jackson, Mikeal St. Pierre, Dylan Marston, Cote and Phillips shone defensively.
