LEWISTON – What a week we had.
The 164th Battle of the Bridge between Lewiston and Edward Little marked the coming of age for this Edward Little team, which took a 19-12 victory over the Devils.
But, regionally, overshadowing the annual red vs. blue matchup, was what might amount to the game of the year to this point.
Leavitt edged Gardiner by one in a pivotal matchup that, with a little bit of help, has given the Hornets the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, which start next week in most classes.
Not to be lost in the shuffle, Winthrop pitched what may as well have been its sixth straight shutout with a 16-0 win over Livermore Falls, while Dirigo rebounded from its one loss with a resounding win at OOB, and Lisbon took care of business with a shutout of its own Saturday, setting up a big matchup with Winthrop in Week 9.
