POLAND – Voters will have the opportunity to adopt a town charter when they go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 4

The matter of a charter was on the ballot last June, during the primary election, and while it passed handily, not enough voters turned out to make the vote legal and binding. By law 705 voters (30 percent of the turnout of the last gubernatorial election) were required and fewer than 600 actually cast votes in June.

Town officials regrouped and on Sept. 29 fulfilled requirements that put the charter question on the Nov. 4 ballot, a move which assures that the 705 requirement will be met.

Polls will be open in the basement in the town hall from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
