LISBON – The Planning Board tabled action on a site plan review permit application from Maine Bicycle Motocross Inc. to build a BMX race track and has referred the matter back to the Town Council.

The action came after attorney Norman Rattey, representing one of the abutters, told planners that the applicant had no legal standing to make an application because there is no lease and no agreement to use the property, which is owned by the town.

Representatives previously went to the council with the proposal, and were referred to the Planning Board. Councilors at that time expressed no objections to the track.

Maine Motocross is seeking a permit to build a BMX race track on one acre of town land at 100 Pinewoods Road, which is in a rural residential zone. The proposal faces strong opposition from abutters and nearby residents.
