Monmouth voters will have one local decision to make on Election Day: who will fill the new school board.

Three Monmouth seats are open on the Kennebec Intra-District Schools board, which will oversee the newly consolidated school district of Monmouth, Dresden, Farmingdale, Hallowell and Richmond.

There are three open seats, but only two people – James Grandahl and Richard Howard – are running for the board. The third seat will be filled through write-in votes.

In order to vote for someone for that third seat, voters must write in a name and check the box beside it. No address or other information is needed.

Polls will open in the basement of Cumston Hall at 9 a.m. Tuesday and will close at 8 p.m. Absentee ballots will be accepted until Election Day. Absentee ballots are available at the town hall during regular business hours: Monday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
