As everything has to eventually come to an end, we, as seniors in high school, definitely realize that an end of one chapter is closing and a new one is about to begin. We are slowly saying goodbye to what we are used to; saying goodbye to our friends; but more importantly, saying goodbye to our childhood.
In class and in the hallways with my fellow classmates, the norm to talk about right now are what colleges we are planning on applying to, what grades we want to achieve by the end of the year, and what majors we are looking into. Some even say that senioritis is kicking in. However stressful senior year may be, it is also important to remember that this year is a time of fun and excitement. Homecoming week and spirit weeks bring all of us closer together, and along with that, we are even more pumped up because it is expected that we dominate the games, it is expected that we are the role models for the school. Senior year also brings along an exuberance of overconfidence and the typical feelings of superiority compared to the underclassmen. Eliza Scott, one of my good friends, told me, “I think it is going to be a fun year, but very stressful.” Hannah Wiley agreed saying, “Our senior year is already flying by. It has been a lot of fun, but also stressful because of college applications. Graduation will be here in no time.”
The fact that everything will change beginning on May 22, 2009 for the graduating class of St. Dominic Regional High School, has not yet fully kicked in. We are trying to enjoy our moments with friends and finish up experiencing all that high school has to offer. Good luck to everyone in the class of 2009 and remember to cherish every moment right now.
