BUCKSPORT (AP) – Verso Paper is shutting down one of its four papermaking machines at its mill in Bucksport for the month of November.

Citing economic conditions, the company said the mill will shut down its No. 2 machine beginning Monday.

Spokesman Bill Cohen said he’s not sure how many employees will be affected by the shutdown, but added that there are no plans for now to reduce production at Verso’s other Maine mill, in Jay.

Verso, which primarily makes paper for catalogs and magazines, employs 795 people at the Bucksport mill and 990 workers in Jay. It also owns mills in Michigan and Minnesota.
