Democrats have achieved a rare political perfect storm and I offer my congratulations.

They have a Democratic House, and there is not one Republican representative from any of the six New England states. That might be a first in the nation’s history.

They have a Democratic Senate.

They will soon have a Democratic president.

They also have an embarrassingly friendly media (including the Sun Journal) that evokes comparison to a puppy that has been adopted out of a shelter, always eager to please and can be counted on not to misbehave (aka criticize) for fear of being labeled racist.

My advice to the Democrats: Keep the media in a cage; let them out for a walk a few times a day (on a leash) and that, along with steady meals, some tummy scratches and some silly talk (that only the two of you can hear), should keep them on your side for the foreseeable future.

In view of the fact that the media and the Democratic Party have been living together for the past few years, there is one thing they won’t have: the traditional honeymoon. That would be a little much.

In conclusion, there is one more thing Democrats have: no excuses.

I wish the Democrats good luck, and I look forward to renewing our (prickly) acquaintance in about 18 months, when we start the next chapter of this glorious adventure.
