AUBURN – Comedian Joey Carroll has performed for United States Marines at Ooday Hussein’s Palace in Iraq and at the Abu Ghraib prison, and on Saturday, Nov. 22, he’s coming to The Fireside Inn & Suites (formerly the Auburn Inn) in Auburn.

Carroll tours twice each year to entertain U.S. troops in hotspots around the world, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Bosnia and several other countries. The travel is on military vehicles, on the military’s timetable; the sleep is on whatever cot is available and the crowds – a handful in one place and thousands in another – are always grateful to see a face from home, Carroll said. “It’s the best thing I do,” he said. “They do so much for us, I’m glad to have a chance to give a little something back.”

Carroll, who has appeared on Comedy Central, Comcast and XM Satellite Radio, headlines along with New England favorite Jack Lynch and Hamilton Johnson.

Lynch is a 15-year veteran of the Boston comedy scene who has toured all over the United States and parts of Canada, entertaining crowds with his earthy style, great impressions and sarcastic view of the world. He has performed at all the major Boston venues as well as The Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, The Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, The Improv in Miami Beach, The Punchline in Atlanta, the Comedy Works in Montreal and colleges on the East Coast.

In addition to comedy, Lynch speaks to groups interested in discussing recovery from addiction.

Showtime is at 8 p.m., and tickets are $16 at the door, $12.50 with a reservation and $25 per couple. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. For reservations, call 777-1777. The Fireside Inn & Suites is at 1777 Washington St., at Exit 75 off of the Maine Turnpike.
