FARMINGTON – Two teenage boys denied more than 30 charges each brought against them Wednesday in connection to a spree of 27 camp burglaries last spring on Porter Lake in New Vineyard and Strong.

The 17-year-olds from Farmington and Wilton are two of seven people facing charges in the spree that caused more than $100,000 damage June 16 and 17.

Farmington District Court Judge John McElwee heard each of the juvenile court cases separately in the courtroom. Only felony charges are open to the public pertaining to those under age 18.

Each of the Wilton and Farmington boys learned their singular charges had multiplied after meeting with court-appointed attorney Elizabeth Maddaus and before having their cases heard.

Assistant District Attorney Andrew Robinson presented a 36-count petition to McElwee against the Wilton teenager, who sat next to his father.

The teen is charged with 16 counts of felony burglary, 15 counts of criminal mischief, four counts of theft by unauthorized taking and one count of theft by receiving stolen property. He was initially charged in October on one count each of felony burglary and aggravated criminal mischief, and a misdemeanor count of theft of unauthorized taking and one count of theft by receiving stolen property.

Maddaus entered denials on the boy’s behalf. He is scheduled to return to court for a hearing at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17.

The Farmington boy had initially faced one charge each of felony burglary and aggravated criminal mischief, and a misdemeanor count of theft by receiving stolen property.

The 35-count petition presented in court Wednesday charges him with 16 counts of felony burglary, seven counts of criminal mischief and 12 counts of theft, Robinson said.

Maddaus also entered denials for the Farmington boy who sat next to his mother in court.

McElwee asked the boy’s mother if she thought a curfew should be added to the conditions of release. She said yes.

McElwee set the curfew for 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., with the exceptions of school functions, work and going out with his parents.

He is also scheduled to appear for a hearing on Dec. 17.

A third 17-year-old boy from Franklin County faces several charges of misdemeanor theft. He appeared at court Wednesday, but his case was closed to the public due to the misdemeanor class of charges.

Four adults connected to the case were indicted last week by a Franklin County grand jury.

Dylan R. Couturier, 18, of Livermore Falls was indicted on 11 counts of felony burglary, seven counts of felony aggravated criminal mischief, four misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and one of theft.

Zachary Heath, 19, of Farmington was indicted on 27 felony counts of burglary, seven felony counts of aggravated criminal mischief, 18 misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, five counts of theft and a count of violation of condition of release.

Timothy Lagasse, 19, of Farmington was indicted on 16 felony counts of burglary, 15 misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and four misdemeanor counts of theft.

Shane Sturgeon, 21, of Livermore was indicted on 27 felony counts of burglary, seven felony counts of aggravated criminal mischief, 18 misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and five misdemeanor theft counts.
