Board: Sabattus Board of Selectmen
Met: Tuesday night
So long, farewell
Issue: Vice Chairman Guy Desjardins and Selectman Gino Camardese were given plaques and thanked for their service. Desjardins had most recently served as selectman for three years and eight months, Camardese for four years and eight months.
Next up: New selectmen Scott Lansley and Jeffrey Baril were introduced. Both have been sworn in and will sit on their first official meeting Dec. 2.
Paving bill
The issue: Earlier this month the town got a bill from Harry C. Crooker & Son for paving and finish grading work that came in $28,596 higher than the agreed-upon bid. The company cited the increased cost of liquid asphalt. Selectmen met to workshop the issue.
Up next: They decided to give the issue to the town lawyer.
New help
The issue: Police Chief Thomas Fales asked for the OK to take on someone from the state’s ASPIRE program for janitorial work, under his supervision. Designed as a program to help people move from welfare to work, ASPIRE would pick up the pay, insurance and workers’ comp costs. Selectmen unanimously approved one person.
