LISBON – One driver complained of neck pain following a rear-end collision at a pedestrian crosswalk on Route 196 in Lisbon Falls on Thursday afternoon.
Officer Jeffrey Williams identified the injured man as Ismail Abdi of 50 Fairmount St., Lewiston. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for treatment.
According to Williams, Abdi and Doreen Hanson, 36, of 11 Pleasant St., Lisbon Falls, had stopped at a crosswalk. After the pedestrian crossed the street, Hanson apparently accelerated too quickly and struck the rear of Abdi’s SUV.
Williams estimated damage at $1,000 to the rear of Abdi’s 1998 Chevrolet Blazer and $3,500 to the front of Hanson’s 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix in the 2:29 p.m. crash.
