Sabattus man promoted

AUGUSTA – Christian Behr of Sabattus was promoted to master sergeant in the Maine Army National Guard.

Behr is the basic non-commissioned officer course manager at the Regional Training Institute at Camp Keyes. The RTI provides education for soldiers from New England to advance in their military careers or to learn additional skills.

Behr is a police officer for the Augusta Police Department and deployed to Iraq in 2005. He is the son of Richard and Florence Behr, and he and his wife, Sara, live in Sabattus.

Roy is promoted

AUGUSTA – Normand Roy of Lewiston was promoted to master sergeant in the Maine Army National Guard.

Roy is the heavy equipment instructor course manager at the Regional Training Institute at Camp Keyes. The RTI provides education for soldiers from New England to advance in their military careers or to learn additional skills.

In 2004, Roy deployed with the 133rd Engineer Battalion in support of Iraqi Freedom. In the civilian workforce, he is a water serviceman for Lewiston Water and Sewer Public Services Division. Roy is the son of the late Roger and Lorraine Roy. He lives with his wife, Diane, and their family in Lewiston.

Air Force Airman Adam J. Maynard has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, core values and military customs and courtesies, performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree relating through the Community College of the Air Force.

Maynard earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Debra and David Devoe of Sabattus. The airman is a 2008 graduate of Oak Hill High School, Wales.

Air Force Airman Aaron J. Cloutier has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Cloutier is the son of Timothy and Julie Cloutier of Lisbon. He is a 2008 graduate of Lisbon High School.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Sean D. Hillman, a 2007 graduate of Mt. Ararat High School, Topsham, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Hillman completed training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
