PARIS – Two selectmen and a resident have been appointed to the Norway-Paris Solid Waste Ad Hoc Committee marking the completion of appointments to that board by the Paris selectmen.

Selectman Chairman Raymond Glover and Selectman David Ivey along with resident Janet Jameson will serve on the committee that has been established to review regulations governing the sometimes controversial Norway-Paris Solid Waste Committee.

“I just want to make it a wonderful organization that I know it can be,” said Jameson, who was appointed at Monday night’s Paris selectmen meeting.

The trio will join their Norway counterparts Selectmen Bruce Cook and Warren Session and a resident who Norway selectmen still need to appoint.

The committee and selectmen from Norway and Paris agreed last month to form an ad hoc committee to review the 20-year solid-waste agreement between the towns that was approved in 2003.

The committee came under scrutiny earlier this year when it voted to increase the disposal fee for items left at the transfer station that did not come from Norway or Paris from $7 an item to $25.

Officials from both towns decided to form the ad hoc committee consisting of two members from the solid waste committee, two members from each of the selectboards and one member of the public from Norway and Paris to review the agreement with an eye toward making possible amendments.

Once the final appointment is made by the Norway board, the committee is expected to set a date to meet.
