AUBURN – Leona Virgo drained 13 points and Helena Sargent and Tamika Pearson eached added 11 as Briarcliffe College of New York shut down Central Maine Community College 63-52 at Kirk Hall Gymnasium on Friday.
The Mustangs (10-2) struggled from the floor early and trailed for the first 17 minutes of the game.
Tied at 43 midway through the second half, the Seahawks pressured the Mustangs into multiple turnovers en route to a 20-9 run, handing the Mustangs their first home loss of the season.
Freshman standout Michelle Holmquist tallied a double-double, pouring in a game-high 20 points and hauling down 10 rebounds for the Mustangs. Tiffany Seams hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points while Teira Durgin added 11.
