BANGOR (AP) – The Bangor City Council will be considering whether to consolidate the city’s polling places in one location.

About four years ago, the city reduced the number of precincts from eight to four. The idea now is for a single polling place. Advocates of the change say the Bangor Civic Center can easily accommodate all voters, even during a presidential election.

Other communities have reduced the number of voting precincts in recent years. The consolidation comes as more and more voters cast absentee ballots.

The council is expected to take up the issue next month.
