Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for all your help. I see you are sharing your spot with your new endeavor of cost-saving recipes. I enjoy both columns but I hope you get a little more space.

You always have such good help and information and your column in many ways is also a way of saving money. People write about how to recycle items or requests for knitting hats and mittens for charities and churches, and letting readers know about food banks and fuel assistance. All kinds of public service helps.

I am writing today for the name of the person who makes memory bears from a loved one’s pajamas. I did not cut out that column – you had it before Christmas. Thank you. – CAP, Lewiston.

Answer:
Rose Dubay of Poland makes Remember Me bears and says she has used all types of fabric, from pajamas to wedding gowns. She may be reached at 998-2547 after 6 p.m. or anytime on weekends.

Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for the valuable community service you provide! I wonder if you or any readers know of a use for old text books. We have some from medical school and some from social work graduate school. They are from the late 1990s.

Also, my aunt has started an organization called the Hands of Mercy (www.handsofmercymission.org), which is a training center for people with disabilities in South Sudan. She travels to Sudan about three times a year and is always looking for certain items to take to the individuals she works with there. There is more information on the Web site about her mission and items she could use, but I thought I would see if anyone in the community has any glasses they no longer use, primarily reading glasses (magnifiers) or even prescription glasses. I could pick them up and then mail them to my aunt before she leaves on her next trip in mid-February. Call 576-9820 and I would be glad to arrange pickup. Thanks so much! – No Name, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: I think I have the answer to why the person thought he had seen the movie “Doubt.” Did he go to the Lewiston Public Theater to see the play “Doubt?” It was playing last year and was excellent. – Frances C. Miller , Lewiston.
