BANGOR (AP) – A former Bangor restaurant owner faces sentencing Feb. 2 after being found guilty of repeatedly having sex with a girl when she was between the ages of 11 and 13.
After a jury-waived trial Friday in Penobscot County Superior Court, Jack Dempsey Bailey II was convicted of 10 counts of gross sexual assault, two counts of unlawful sexual contact and sexual exploitation of a minor.
The 47-year-old Bailey, who owned Bubba Jack’s restaurant, also was accused of inappropriately touching a second girl. The prosecution said the two victims, who did not testify, were friends of Bailey’s daughter.
Bailey’s lawyer said his client plans to appeal the trial judge’s ruling on how evidence that led police to the victims was obtained.
