JAY – Beth Moore turned in a triple-double with 10 points, 15 rebounds and 12 steals Monday, launching Jay to an easy 55-15 MVC girls’ basketball win over Madison.
Moore scored eight points in the first half for the Tigers (11-3), sparking the hosts to a 10-3 lead after one quarter and a 24-7 edgeat the break.
Hillary Deane led Jay with 16 points.
Liz LeBlanc added 15.
Lauren Bean paced the Bulldogs (7-7) with six points.
Mt. Abram 55, Boothbay 33
BOOTHBAY – Mt. Abram broke open a first-quarter deadlock with a 35-7 run over the middle two frames en route to a 55-33 victory over Boothbay.
The Seahawks (1-13) played Mt. Abram even for the first quarter, which ended in a 10-10 tie. The Roadrunners (10-4) raced away with 17-3 and 18-4 advantages over the next two quarters. Kenni Norton led Mt. Abram with 28 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Mikayla Burbank added nine points. Mary Fuller scored 11 points for the Seahawks.
Hyde 43, Hebron 22
HEBRON – Keionna Bessey scored 17 points and Hyde exploded to a 12-point lead after one quarter on its way to a 43-22 girls’ basketball win Monday over Hebron.
Scout Gauld added 10 points for the Phoenix (7-2).
Hyde led 16-4 at the end of one period and 24-7 at the half.
Emma Leavitt topped Hebron (2-11) with 13 points.
Boys’ basketball
Boothbay 81, Mt. Abram 38
BOOTHBAY – Dylan Brandt scored nine first-quarter points to launch Boothbay to an 81-38 MVC boys’ basketball victory on Monday over Mt. Abram.
The Seahawks (10-4) jumped out to a 23-5 advantage after the first quarter.
Brandt finished with 17 points to lead Boothbay’s balanced attack.
Jim Parker scored 12 points and Sam Simpson added 11 for the Roadrunners (4-10).
Boys’ hockey
MWH 7, Oak Hill/Lisbon 1
AUBURN – Maranacook/Winthrop/Hall-Dale scored five goals in the third period Monday night to ward off Lisbon/Oak Hill, 7-1, in a Class A boys’ hockey tilt at Ingersoll Arena.
Jake Levesque scored two first-period goals for MWH (7-4). Josh Prue answered with an assist from Justin Grant.
Erik Ogren connected twice in the third period to help settle the issue. Corey Palmer had a goal and two assists.
