LEWISTON – Evan W. Plourde, 70, of Canton died Jan. 30, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1938, in Skowhegan, the son of Leapold and Eva Plourde. He was educated in Kingfield and had a lifelong love for the Lexington-Highland-Dead River area. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5986 Maine Holland-Damon-Maxim Post and Amvets.

He married the former Luverne Seaward on Nov. 16, 1962, and he became the patriarch of a large extended family. He was a devoted husband and father and a spirited friend to many who enjoyed his company, whether playing cards or sitting around a campfire.

He worked in various occupations, including woodsman, crane operator, roofer, and truck driver. He was a lifelong Maine native who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Luverne of Canton; a daughter, Deanna L Plourde-McDonald and husband, Darren, of Sabattus; four sons, Bradley Evan Plourde (Junior) and fiancée, Denise, of Turner, Gary Ryder and wife, Darlene, of Lisbon, Randy Ryder of Livermore Falls and Ralph Ryder and wife, Mary, of Canton; 15 grandchildren, Corey, Jared, Elise, Justine, Erin, Jeana, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Keith, Melissa, Natasha, Kristie, Brook, Ralph III and Mary Kay; 12 great-grandchildren and growing; two sisters, Joyce and Karen; and mother-in-law, Leota Seaward.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Bobbie and Paul; a sister, Henrietta Bowen; his father-in-law, Elmer Seaward; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Seaward and Ron Bowen; best friend and brother-in-law, Leighton Gilbert; and special friends, Lawrence and Avis Pinkham.

He was also predeceased by his canine companion, Cinnamon.
