LEWISTON – Mona R. Liberty, 55, of Library Avenue, Auburn, died Friday, Jan. 30, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston, on Oct. 9, 1953, a daughter to the late Romeo and Rollande (Letourneau) Guennette. She graduated from Gray New Gloucester High School, Class of 1968. She married the love of her life, James Liberty on June 29, 1973.

She worked for many years as a cashier for Shaw’s. She took great pride in her French/ Mic Mac Indian tribe heritage. She was known for being outgoing and her infectious laugh.

She was a great painter and could draw almost anything freehand. She enjoyed being at the ocean and tanning in the sun. Her granddaughter, Emily, was her life, she looked forward to spending as much time with her as possible.

She leaves her husband of 35 years, Jim of Auburn; two sons, Chris and Eric, both of Auburn; her granddaughter, Emily Liberty and her mother, Kimberli Gipson, of Auburn; a granddaughter due in February, Cheyenne Mona Lynn Liberty and her mother, Shannon Flagg of Auburn; two sisters, Eileen Turcotte and her husband, Richard, of Litchfield and Jean Angela Carter and her husband, David, of Greene; and her mother and father-in-law, Conrad and Fleurette Liberty of Auburn.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Guenette.
