LEWISTON – Gladys Fongemie, 87, formerly of 10 Oak Park, Lewiston, and a resident of the d’Youville Pavilion for the past three years, entered the gates of Heaven into eternal life on Jan. 31.

She was born in Frenchville, on May 12, 1921, the daughter of Octave and Hattie Ouellette Fongemie. She was born into this world facing great obstacles. She overcame her obstacles, taking care of the sick and aged.

She is survived by her last remaining sister, Lucille Fongemie Dionne of Madawaska; and three generations of nieces and nephews, too numerous to name.

She was predeceased by brothers, Albert, Levite, Leo and Edgar Fongemie; and sisters, Wellena Fongemie Morin, Lorette Fongemie St. Amant Clavette and Delima Fongemie Desjardins.

The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff of 3-West at d’Youville Pavilion and also the staff of Beacon Hospice for their care during the last six months of Gladys’ life.
