FARMINGTON – Cutting a couple of words out of the name still describes the Farmington Downtown Business and Professional Association but makes it shorter and more to the point, said Michael Mansir, association president.

Members met Wednesday for their annual meeting and voted to change the name to the Farmington Downtown Association.

The group elected officers for the year, including reappointing Mansir president, Donna Wheeler, vice-president, Stephen Gray, treasurer, and Elise Bell, secretary.

The association also reviewed plans to have the Upcountry Artists take over and promote the annual art show held on the fourth Friday in July in conjunction with the association’s Strawberry Festival.

Nicole Eustis, chairwoman of the association’s promotions committee, is talking with the group, he said.

“It would free-up a lot of time needed for the art show by allowing a group that knows much more about it than we do to do that,” Mansir said.
