KINGFIELD – Kingfield residents will host a Candidates Night to meet the three candidate’s for one selectman’s position at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Kingfield Elementary School. A moderator will ask specific questions, followed by questions from the public.

FARMINGTON – Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties will show “Last Chance Harvey” at 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at the Narrow Gauge Cinema. It is a romantic comedy starring Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson.

Reporter training

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force will offer a mandated reporter training from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Franklin County Children’s Task Force conference room, 113 Church St.

The cost will be $10. Topics to be covered will include understanding the roles and responsibilities of a being a mandated reporter under Maine law, identifying indicators and risk factors of child abuse and/or neglect, and how to make a report if abuse and/or neglect are suspected.

Take-out meal

NEW SHARON – A family baked bean take-out supper will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 7, at the New Sharon Congregational United Church of Christ, Cape Cod Hill Road.

Meal will include a quart of baked beans, a pint of coleslaw, yeast rolls or brown bread and a family-size homemade pie for $15. To reserve meals, call Mary at 778-2366.

Tutor training

SKOWHEGAN – Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties, a nonprofit United Way funded organization, is offering a basic reading tutor training in Skowhegan beginning on Tuesday, March 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. and continuing Saturdays, March 14 and 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It will be held at Women Work and Community at 143 Madison Ave. There is a $20 fee for materials, but scholarships are available. For more information or to register, call 474-7553 or 314-6779.
