DOVER, N.H. (AP) – Despite a last-minute appeal to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the National Passport Information Center in Dover, N.H., has closed, putting 300 people out of work.

The center closed Friday after the State Department sent its work elsewhere. AT&T announced in December that the center would close because the State Department was not renewing a contract.

The governor and congressional delegation all appealed to Washington keep the center open.
