AUBURN – Jean C. Carson, 91, a resident of 440 Minot Ave., Auburn, formerly of Syracuse, N.Y., died unexpectedly Saturday, March 21, at Clover Health Care Facility.

She was born in Hinton, W.Va., Aug. 7, 1917, the daughter of George W. and Bettie (Spencer) Coleman. She grew up, graduated from high school, and married her husband, Robert, in Hinton.

Most of her married life was spent in Syracuse, N.Y. She was very active in the North Syracuse Baptist Church, which was an important part of her life. She served the church in many capacities, including Christian education director.

She and Robert celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 26, 1986, just a few months before his death. She was a true Southern gentlewoman. She was the loving center of her family, and a consistent, encouraging presence in the lives of her family and many others. She was accomplished in many areas, especially cooking. Her grandchildren were quite fond of her cookies, party mix and fondue.

Her life revolved around her church, family, and friends. She is now rejoicing in her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, her beloved husband, Robert, and many other loved ones.

Survivors include one son, William C. Carson and wife, Patricia, of Auburn; two daughters, Betty C. Day and husband, David, and Carol Lee Carson, all of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, Susan Snyder and husband, Richard, Karen Goslin and husband, Paul, Gretchen Fricke and husband, Perry, Kristin Bogan and husband, Shawn, Joy Gray and husband, Dan and Eric Day and wife, Merry; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Clover Health Care for their loving care of Jean for the past three years while she resided at Clover. They also are grateful for the wonderful staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their kindness and compassion as they cared for her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; her parents; four brothers; five sisters; and one granddaughter.
