AUGUSTA – Edgar “Hank” Swift, 91, a resident of Livermore, died Thursday, March 26, at the Maine Veterans Home, where he had resided for one and a half years.

He was born in Jay, on April 19, 1917, the son of Harold and Eda M. (Chadburn) Swift. Hank was a 1936 graduate of Jay High School and attended Bliss College.

On March 3, 1946, he married Corinne B. Robichaud in Jay. He and his wife made their home on Jewell Street in Jay and after retirement moved to the Goding Road in Livermore. She passed away on April 20, 1992.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and later worked as an electrician for IP and James River Paper Co. at the Otis Mill in Jay, retiring in 1979 after 42 years of service. He and his wife enjoyed many winters in St. Cloud, Fla., and the close friendships that were made over the years. He enjoyed gardening and living next door to his granddaughter and her family. He always received much pleasure in the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Robert Laverdiere of Livermore and Donna and Robert Groves of Jay; a sister, Doris Davis of Brunswick; three grandchildren, Rachel Dalgleish of Jay, James Laverdiere of Greenfield, Wis., and Dawne Townsend and her husband, David, of Livermore; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Townsend of Livermore, Emma and Sophia Dalgleish of Jay; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Herbert and Ronald Swift; a sister, Edna Swift; and two nephews, Woodbury and Lorne Davis.
