BANGOR, Maine (AP) — Bucking industry trends, Bangor International Airport says passenger traffic in February was 10 percent higher than in the same month a year ago.

Airport Director Rebecca Hupp cites growing demand sparked by lower fares and more nonstop flights to popular destinations.

Hupp pointed to an increase in the number of Allegiant Air flights and the addition of another Continental flight to Newark.

She noted that passenger traffic was down nationwide in February, with drops of 17 percent in Boston and 6.8 percent in Portland.
