LISBON – No injuries were reported and combined damage was estimated at $6,000 in a two-car crash on Canal Street in Lisbon Falls late Friday afternoon.

Officer Richard St. Amant identified the drivers as James Gould, 58, of Durham and Holly Toothaker, 32, of Lisbon. According to St. Amant, Toothaker was driving east on Route 196 prior to the intersection of Main and Canal streets when she may have suffered a medical problem.

She failed to negotiate a left curve on Route 196 and continued driving straight off the road, down over an embankment, narrowly missing a chain-link fence and onto the railroad tracks by the Worumbo Mill.

Her vehicle continued east on the railroad tracks blowing three tires along the way, and re-entered the roadway where the tracks cross Canal Street striking the side of Gould’s car, which was heading north on Canal crossing the tracks at the Route 196 intersection.

Lisbon Falls Fire Department and Lisbon Emergency Ambulance responded but there were no apparent injuries, St. Amant said.

Damage to Toothaker’s 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier and Gould’s 1995 Saab were estimated at $3,000 each in the 5:50 p.m. crash. No charges were filed.
