LISBON – Voters will be going to the polls for a special referendum election on April 21 to vote on five bond questions totaling $2,499,980.

The questions were approved by the town council at their March 3 meeting and require voter approval in order to move forward.

Question 1 seeks $394,000 as matching funds for an MDOT-approved $1.2 million for reconstruction of Upland Road. If the town doesn’t fund the match, it will lose $1.2 million in funding, according to Town Manager Steve Eldridge.

The second question seeks $916,855 for town road construction over three years.

The third question seeks $369,125 for public works equipment replacement – front-end loader, two dump truck bodies and a compactor container. Included in that amount is $56,000 to repair concrete blocks at the Public Works garage.

The fourth question seeks $320,000 in matching funds for the MDOT-approved construction and maintenance of the Androscoggin River Trail. As in question 1, if this is not approved, the town will lose $1.6 million funding.

The final bond question seeks $500,000 to develop the design of a grade 6-12 school construction project.

Absentee ballots are available. Contact Town Clerk Twila Lycette at 353-3000 ext. 112 for further information.
