BOSTON (AP) – Bring back Pack.

That’s what Boston officials are demanding after the bronze duckling was swiped from the beloved “Make Way For Ducklings” sculpture in the city’s Public Garden.

Police said Pack was snapped off at its webbed feet. The theft was discovered early Monday by a park ranger on routine patrol.

Pack is the next to last of the eight ducklings lined up behind Mrs. Mallard in the sculpture inspired by Robert McCloskey’s children’s book, “Make Way for Ducklings.”

But he’s not the first to be stolen. Similar fates have befallen Quack, Mack and Jack over the years. All were either replaced or recovered.

Mayor Thomas Menino denounced the fowl act, saying it was a crime and not a prank. He urged anyone with information about the theft to contact police.
