Lewiston, Maine; population of approximately 40,000 people, isn’t quite the largest city you’ve ever seen but then again, this is Maine we’re talking about. Lewiston is a quaint little town, unfortunately landlocked, but nestled next to the crackling Androscoggin River and old legend Bates Mill. The citizens who call Lewiston and even Auburn their home for some reason like the title L/A though there is little relation to the California paradise; we Mainers are dreamers. But we love it here, right?

All four beautiful seasons wrapped up in one eventful year versus the tropical cool summer and hot summer they have in sunnier locations. I personally like to see the leaves fall to the ground and have a crunch in your step, like to see the flowers bloom out of the rich soil for the first time after a harsh winter. I like to see the springtime warm up to a pleasing consistent heat wave and I like to see the snow collect, sometimes, and see people pull out their mittens and scarves, don’t you? It’s the kind of place that might make a 30 second national news debut with Katie Couric or Brian Williams once every couple years only to mention briefly the irrational and ridiculous record breaking snowfall in the continental Untied States – what an accomplishment.

Yet, I think we take a little too much pride in that one word, 12 letter, bold statement that we all happily broadcast on the back and front of our vehicles showing everyone, everywhere we go, that in fact Vacationland is our home.
