LISBON – A local man fell asleep while driving on Route 196 Wednesday morning, leaving one person with minor injuries, police officer Richard St. Amant said.

The investigator said Frank Gross, 82, of Lisbon was driving east when he fell asleep. His car crossed the westbound lane, struck a guardrail and missed two vehicles, went back into the westbound lane and collided with a car driven by Augustine Edgerton, 38, of Brunswick.

Edgerton’s passenger, Cecilia Lachance, 76, of Brunswick complained of head and knee pain and was taken by Lisbon emergency to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, where she was treated and released, St. Amant said.

The accident occurred near Moody Road at 9:58 a.m. No charges were filed.

Damage was estimated at $7,000 each to Edgerton’s 2004 Buick Century and Gross’ 2006 Buick Lucerne.
