FARMINGTON – County commissioners voted to buy three new vehicles from Quirk Ford in Augusta for the Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday at a combined cost of $64,532. The cost is just under the $65,000 in the budget for the cruisers.

Three bids were received with multiple variations of prices and models.

Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ray Meldrum looked over the bids and came back with a recommendation presented by Sheriff Dennis Pike.

They plan to buy a General Motors Impala, a Ford Expedition and a Ford Explorer.

Meldrum also asked to again advertise vehicles that were to be traded in for sale to see if they could get a better price.

It worked well last year, he said.

He will put the minimum bid as the trade-in price so that if there are no buyers, the vehicles could still be traded in.
