LEWISTON – Carol L. Smalt, 63, of Farmington, went home to be with Jesus early Wednesday, April 8, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born Dec. 24, 1945, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Morrison J. and Mary E. (Hamilton) Cumming. She graduated from Easton High in 1963.

On May 2, 1985, she married Larry Smalt. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, enjoyed kayaking with her kids, cooking, decorating, shopping with her sister, entertaining in her home and Facebook. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; her children, Julie Libby and her husband, Brian, of Farmington, Mary Cyr and her husband, Ken, of Temple, Jenny Verghese and her husband, Tom, of Texas, and Kenny Thomas and his wife, Bjarni, of New Sharon; her stepchildren, Bonnie Sellers and her husband, Kevin, of California, Rod Smalt of Maryland, and Guy Smalt and his wife, Donna, of Maryland; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, her twin, Carolyn Drummey, Pat Berger and Naomi Oakes; three brothers, Daniel, Brian and Greg Cumming; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents.
