AUBURN – Cecile B. Finley, 90, formerly of 82 Cumberland Drive, Lewiston, died Thursday, April 9, at the Oddfellows Home in Auburn, where she had been a resident since 2004.

Born in Lewiston on Aug. 15, 1918, she was the daughter of Alphonse and Adelia Pauquette Bedard. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston high school, class of 1937.

She studied piano with Blanche Belleau, a well-known local piano teacher, as did her siblings. She and her sister, Lucienne, could be heard many times playing two piano pieces and/or accompanying their sister Evelyn who sang. They gave many piano concerts in and around the Lewiston-Auburn area.

On Feb. 2, 1952, she married Robert S. Finley, who passed away on July 23, 1998.She was employed for many years as a photographer for the Henry Nolin Photography Studio, and later worked for over twenty years as a private secretary for the medical unit of the Department of Human Services.

A member of St. Patrick’s Parish, she was the church organist for over 30 years, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of and past prefect of the Rosary Sodality. She was also a former member of the Art Patronage Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Anne and husband, Robert Caldwell, of Lewiston; a granddaughter, Amanda Marie Caldwell of Everett, Wash.; and two grandsons, Jonathon Caldwell of Ft. Jackson, S.C., and Patrick Caldwell of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters, and an infant son, Robert John Finley, who passed away in 1953.

Her family would like to thank the staff of the Oddfellows Home for all the loving care they gave her during her final years.
