AUGUSTA (AP) – Maine Warden Service officials say a 22-year-old Presque Isle man died while snowmobiling on a northern Maine woods trail with a friend.

The victim in the Saturday night accident was identified as 22-year-old Brian James, who was driving one of two snowmobiles about six miles west of Oxbow in Aroostook County.

Officials said this was the ninth snowmobile-related fatality this season.

While the snowmobile season is winding down in northern Maine, there still is snow on many of the woods trails.
