BOSTON (AP) – Berklee College of Music has announced that R&B legend Smokey Robinson, vocalist Linda Ronstadt, and merengue pioneer Juan Luis Guerra will be awarded honorary degrees.
The three will receive their degrees at the school’s commencement ceremonies on May 9.
Robinson, whose hits include “Ooo Baby Baby” and “The Tears of a Clown” while he was with the Miracles, also is scheduled to give the school’s commencement address to 850 Berklee graduates.
Producer and sound engineer George Massenburg will also receive an honorary degree.
Guerra is a graduate of Berklee College of Music.
