Should the Auburn/Lewiston Municipal Airport have passenger service? Absolutely, but not at the expense of non-flying taxpayers.

When the time comes, as airport facilities are appropriately upgraded (self-funded), an airline (as defined by the FAA) will come if there is money to be made. If there is money to be made, an airline would be able to pay the airport coffers so the associated operational expenses would be self-supportive.

I am very impressed with the Sun Journal editorial April 8. It was obviously researched, maybe even at the state and federal levels, and the local airport “politics,” as well as the $20,000 (joint) study, were discounted in the commentary.
