PORTLAND – Robert L. Cunningham, 65, of Falmouth, passed away unexpectedly April 16, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born Oct. 12, 1943, the son of the late Alfred A. Cunningham and Narissa (Brown) Cunningham of Gorham.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years, serving in the Vietnam arena. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 197, of Westbrook, The Eagles of Westbrook, as well as a member of the South Portland VFW. Robert spent many years living in Mexico, before moving to the Falmouth area. He recently had been training to fulfill a lifetime dream of walking the Appalachian Trail and all other major trails of interest.

In addition to his mother; he is survived by his two daughters, Beth Ann Willis and her husband, Michael, of North Carolina and Narissa M. Cunningham and her fiancé, David McFadden, of Tupper Lake, N.Y.; three brothers, Alfred A. Cunningham Jr. of Delta Junction, Alaska, Bruce A. Cunningham and his wife, Susan, of North Pole, Alaska, and Wayne E. Cunnigham and his wife, Denise, of Oakland.
